The frightening thing is how much truth there is in that bit of satire, at least as far as what veterans can expect.
I've *always* thought it was appalling the way this country fails to properly care for its veterans; this is just adding to the insult. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who's not terribly fond of the military (read: the brass) in general; I just think if a person is willing to make that potential sacrifice and serves honorably, they've EARNED a special status, and EARNED those benefits.
