This came in last night on my “Tachyon terminal” from the year 2094. I believe it is a segment of a history lesson.
The coup of 2000 in which George II seized power with the help of his brother, a provincial governor and a corrupt Supreme Court, marked what was nearly the end of the United States. Selling out the country to the corporatos, stripping the citizenry of their civil rights in the name of a nebulous and open ended “War on Terrorism”, Imprisoning ever larger segments of the population to feed the Corporate hunger for slave labor in their prison factories by way of the twisted farce known as the “War on Drugs” and gutting the environmental regulations so hard won over the previous 30 years. This dark conspiracy of politicos, the aforementioned corporatos and the fanatical “religious right” very nearly swept America back into a second “Dark Ages”. The only resistance to this dark and ugly movement came on what was known as the “Internet”. This is believed to have been a precursor to our own “Omni-matrix” The leaders of this resistance were surprisingly enough a despised and persecuted minority known as “Bikers” in general and Hells Angels in particular. Despite widespread efforts to stamp them out these indomitable individualists persevered in the attempts to vote out the greed mongers who had seized control of the country’s government until in 2008 when they succeeded in forming a grassroots coalition led by one Rusty Coones (one of the aforementioned Hells Angels). Assisted by a shadowy group known only as the “Men in Black”, Mr. Coones put together a voting block that finally voted out the entrenched power structure, however they refused to surrender their power and had to be forcibly removed from Washington DC by a coalition of bikers, veterans, blue collar working people and finally joined by the nations military. They were removed to a remote island where they were reduced to subsistence farming in order to survive. Their descendants remain to this day, having become so xenophobic that they attack anyone who attempts to land on the island. Following the removal a special election was held and Rusty Coones was elected President by the largest landslide majority ever seen in America and started the “Return to Constitutional Rights” movement that produced our current government structure, what little of it there is. We have finally realized that people are mostly competent to manage their own affairs without interference from any government.
